Spreading the Word

Post image for Spreading the Word

This morning I had a conversation via facebook that I have had in various and sundry ways many times over the last several years. I’m beginning to think I should put “return any Bibles left behind” in my non-existent contract.

– Facebook Friend: “Hi Nathan, We enjoyed being with you last weekend. You, your family, and your music are a blessing from the Lord! BTW – We found your Bible in the pew this week. How should we get it back to you?”

– Me: “I cannot keep up with that thing! I only carry it to make me look more spiritual…. :) I use my iphone bible app most of the time.”

I’ve left it in GA at an OPC church. I left it at Mark Stoffel’s Wedding. I left it somewhere in FL – twice. I’ve left it on top of my car along with a mug of coffee. I’ve lost my wife’s bible, my son’s bible, and my mom’s hymnal. I guess this is my feeble attempt to spread the Word. (sorry)

I wonder how many folks would offer to return my iPhone. Are iPhones less spiritual? I can at least keep up with that gadget I paid too much for (so far). Maybe I should buy an expensive bible.

Where have you left your bible?

I think you left your flash drive at a church I worked at in Murphysboro. I didn’t even remember until just now.

I’ve left Bibles at the local coffee shop, church, work, Greece, two Navy ships and Mosul. I can relate, being a space cadet can get expensive. I have started setting my car keys on top of anything I would usually forget and leave behind. That way, its really hard to drive away with out it.

Nathan-

I’ve NEVER left my Bible anywhere, I guess I’m more righteous than you, huh?….!;0)
Truth be told, my sweet husband is always picking up after me. I carry one of those huge, big print sized ones due to my poor eyesight, so that’s kind of been my excuse….I can’t see it and I’m forgetful. The latter obviously doesn’t hold much water.

Seriously though, I think if we remembered the incredible sacrifices some men made so we could have our own copies, we would be more mindful, less inclined to “forget” I’m preaching to myself here.

Shalom!

So glad to know that others are absent-minded. Had a good laugh over this one. I recently forgot my suitcase on a 3 day road trip with 2 concerts. What a bummer. I was out in the boondocks so my iPhone didn’t do me any good. Plus, my brakes went out on that trip – actually I think an angel must have spared my life – but that’s another story.

That’s what I’d like to know. Where did I leave it?!

I left my Bible and my hymnal on top of my car leaving church one night. Took off down the interstate, and realized a few miles later that they were not in the back seat. By the time I circled back around and found them, they had been run over multiple times. I still use both today, tire tracks and all!

Lost my favorite bible and never did find it, very frustrating!
