This past weekend (Jan. 30 & 31) I left my family in a snow and ice covered cabin in TN – I could not pull Jonathan away from sledding. So, for the first time in a long time I was on my own as I pointed my ice covered minivan toward MS. It took almost two days for the ice to disappear, and all the good folk of Jackson, MS were staring at me like they had never seen that road stained, white stuff clinging to a car – or was it my beat up minivan??? Anyway – here’s a pic from the recent concert at Lakewood Pres. Live singing pictures crack me up. I look like I’m in pain…. Next time maybe I’ll post pictures of the audience instead of me, since this can get a little narcissistic. That’s why my first t-shirt was a picture of my foot, and my second one was a sketch. Hey – you can buy my sketch shirt here! But we are off track…
Aside from being treated like a king in both Cary & Flowood, I think my favorite moment of the trip was being asked in the youth gathering after the concert in Flowood what I think of rap “music.” I will not repeat my answer here, but it was a fun discussion. As I get older, I find the youth of today more and more interesting. They seem to be rejecting the over individualistic mind set of the gen-x crowd. Not that I have done extensive study, but it is my preliminary observation that both home schooled kids, as well as kids that have almost no schooling will look me in the eye and engage. Or, maybe the change is more in me, and I’m more willing to engage them. But, we are off track…. Then again, getting off track may be more interesting than me talking about me.
More about me: I often have a favorite song of the night; one that I enjoyed playing. Both nights it was a new one called On a Christmas Day. I hope to have a few roughs to share with y’all soon.
Thanks Addison for taking the photos – great job with a lens you barely knew! And thanks to everyone in Cary & Flowood, MS.
